Judy Freeman has been teaching and training musicians for over 35 years. Her passion for young people and creating exceptional learning environments have driven her to mentor students and teachers spanning multiple generations.
Trained through the Western Conservatory of Music, now called Conservatory Canada, Judy is passionate about studying and teaching Canadian Repertoire alongside the classics. Judy manages the Contemporary Showcase Festival held annually on Canada Music Week for the Parry Sound Muskoka area. She is also a certified teacher with Music for Young Children® and encourages her students to compose their original compositions for the MYC International Composition Festival.
Judy began the Leading Note Family Music Studio in Parry Sound, training her four musical daughters to play and teach. She now enjoys passing her love of music on to her seven grandchildren. Today, the Leading Note Family Music Studio is a co-op with other local teachers and trains beginner musicians through to the Associate Level. In 2019, Judy took on the leadership of the Muskoka Music Centre in Huntsville and now directs both locations concurrently.
Today, Judy oversees a teaching team of a dozen independent musicians in Parry Sound and Muskoka and actively mentors and advises other music centres across Ontario. She personally teaches in-person and virtual lessons to over 100 students across Canada. Judy also plays the piano at weddings, funerals and church services and directs the Minettones Ladies’ Choir. No matter the location, Judy continually strives to educate, encourage, and support others in life and lessons.
